How to Use This Checklist
This guide is organised by month and designed to be adaptable. Every couple is different โ so take what works for your wedding and leave the rest. The goal is to make this process feel less like a mountain and more like a series of joyful milestones.
12+ Months Before the Wedding
- Set your budget. Talk honestly about what you can spend and whoโs contributing. This will shape every decision moving forward.
- Create your guest list. It doesnโt need to be final yet, but get a rough idea so you can choose the right venue.
- Choose your wedding date and book your venue. The venue often sets the tone, so get this booked early.
- Hire a wedding planner (optional). If youโre going the full-service route, nowโs the time to bring in professional help.
- Decide on your wedding theme or aesthetic. Start collecting inspiration on Pinterest or in a dedicated mood board.
- Start browsing vendors. Photographers, florists, and caterers often book far in advance.
9โ11 Months Before
- Book photographer and/or videographer. These creatives are in high demand โ especially for popular dates.
- Finalise your wedding party. Ask your bridesmaids, groomsmen, or attendants so they can plan ahead.
- Start shopping for your wedding outfit. Whether itโs a dress, suit, or something unique โ give yourself time.
